Application of the CIPW normative method to igneous rock naming using AI algorithms

Abstract

The study compiled 3,358 igneous rock samples and retained 2,707 valid records after quality control. CIPW normative minerals were incorporated as features in Random Forest, XGBoost, and SVM with PCA models trained using stratified cross-validation.
