Privacy Policy for Lithica Atlas

I, Jordan Zavaleta, operating under the developer identity GisGeo Dev, am committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how Lithica Atlas (the "Application") handles your information when you use this mobile and desktop application for Android and Windows.

Our privacy practices comply with Google Play developer policy requirements, prioritizing transparency regarding data usage and device permissions.

1. Local-First Application and Offline Consultation

Lithica Atlas is designed as a local-first visual reference tool.

  • No Mandatory Sign-In: The Application does not require registration or sign-in to browse the full visual catalog of minerals, rocks, micrographic textures, and mineral deposit models.
  • Local Processing: All catalog details, images, classification tables, and search capabilities are stored and processed locally and offline on your device.

2. Device Permissions and Data Processed

To provide its core capabilities and optional user authentication, the Application uses minimal permissions:

A. Internet Access (android.permission.INTERNET)

  • Usage: Used exclusively to facilitate optional Google Sign-In and to open external web links for scientific citations and reference sources when requested by the user.
  • Privacy: Not used for tracking your browsing activity, collecting analytics, or transmitting your local search queries.

B. No Sensitive Device Permissions

Lithica Atlas does NOT request or require access to your GPS location, camera, microphone, or external storage files.

3. Optional Google Account Authentication

The Application provides an optional feature to sign in using Google Sign-In (Firebase Authentication):

  • What is processed: Your unique Google user ID, display name, email address, and profile photo URL.
  • Purpose: To maintain a verified user profile status within the app interface.
  • Privacy: This process only verifies account identity. No scientific data, search history, or personal notes are uploaded or synced to external servers.

4. Google Play Data Safety Declaration

In compliance with the Google Play Data Safety requirements, the data handling practices are summarized below:

Data Safety Summary

  • Data Collected: Account information (Name, Email address, User ID) only if the user voluntarily chooses to sign in via Google Sign-In.
  • Data NOT Collected: No location data, financial info, contacts, personal photos, device files, audio recordings, or search history are collected.
  • Data Sharing: We do not share, sell, or rent any user data to third parties or advertising networks.
  • Encryption in Transit: All communication during optional Google sign-in is transmitted over secure HTTPS / TLS encrypted channels.
  • Local Data Security: The offline catalog bundle is protected with AES-256-GCM encryption and SHA-256 integrity verification during package distribution.
  • Data Deletion: Users can sign out within the app to clear their local profile session, or uninstall the app / clear app data from Android Settings to remove all locally cached files.

5. Third-Party Disclosure

I do not collect personal data for commercial purposes; therefore, I do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties.

All catalog browsing activity remains strictly on your device. No third-party ad networks or analytics trackers are included in the Application.

6. Data Security

Local profile data and application cache are stored within the Application's private storage directory on your device. The security of your data depends on the security measures enabled on your own operating system (such as screen lock and device encryption).

7. Data Retention and Deletion

  • Local Profile: Signing out of the Application removes the locally saved profile data.
  • Application Data: You can permanently delete all locally cached files by clearing the Application data or uninstalling the app from your device.

8. Children's Privacy

Lithica Atlas is an educational and scientific petrology tool and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy at any time. Any significant updates will be reflected by the "Last Updated" date on this page.
