Overview
Lithica Explorer is an Android-first, offline-first mobile application designed for geological fieldwork. It brings together cartographic visualization, offline area preparation, georeferenced observations, photo capture, technical document consultation, and preliminary rock classification in a single operational environment.
The project is already functional as an advanced MVP and is now available in beta for field testing, with a real local-first core and a scientific workflow focused on traceability during remote field campaigns.
Beta Access
Lithica Explorer is now available as a beta. If you would like to test it, please fill out the beta access form:
Any feedback will be very helpful for improving the tool, especially reports from real geological fieldwork, offline workflows, file handling, observations, and classification use cases.

Core Capabilities
The current application integrates:
- Live map visualization with GPS tracking
- Preparation of offline work areas with downloaded tiles
- Import and cataloging of GeoPackage, GeoTIFF, MBTiles, GeoJSON, PDF, and video files
- Structured georeferenced field observations
- Photo attachment and local evidence traceability
- Preliminary geological classification workflows
- Structural orientation tools and derived measurements
Architecture
The system follows a layered architecture with separated presentation, data, models, and platform services.
Its current repository organization includes:
- docs/ for product and architecture documentation
- handoff/ for operational notes across sessions
- lib/src/core/ for shared models and utilities
- lib/src/features/ for domain modules
- lib/src/localization/ for bilingual interface content
- lib/src/theme/ for the visual system
Field Workflow
Lithica Explorer is built to support the main geological field cycle:
- Prepare the area and required field packages before deployment
- Carry maps, rasters, layers, and documents without connectivity
- Record observations with coordinates, notes, photos, and structural data
- Run preliminary lithological and igneous classification flows on-device
- Preserve evidence for later technical review and interpretation
Applied Value
At its current stage, Lithica Explorer already operates as a practical geological field toolkit. Its main value lies in consolidating spatial data access, structured capture, and preliminary interpretation under offline conditions, with a base ready to grow toward synchronization, sampling, export, and intelligent assistance.
